5 Shows on Prime Video that you NEED to watch!
I think Prime Video is slept on! There are numerous great shows available on this streaming platform, allow me to walk you through a list of my recommended
Fallout
I love this show with everything in me. I genuinely think it’s brilliant. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, balancing tragedy and humour incredibly well. This show is really dark yet filled with comedic moments. It follows different characters as they are trying to survive and look for family, but also uncover conspiracies and mysteries.
It doesn’t feel like a typical apocalypse show because there are unique elements to it in regard to the storyline. The way the storyline has been building throughout the seasons actually deserves an award. Each plot development works seamlessly and makes sense - nothing feels dragged or random. The plot lines constantly connect and disconnect at different points, keeping the rhythm and pace of the show alive.
If you like The Last Of Us, Paradise or Z Nation, then you will love this.
Cross
This show follows Alex Cross, a detective who hunts down killers while dealing with his own personal demons. This show leans on the serious side and is driven by the strong lead character. Cross can be described as a gritty psychological type of crime show. I enjoy the balance between focusing on his personal life and the cases, and how at times these can intersect.
It is very intense and is not a show you can watch while scrolling on your phone. You definitely need to lock in!
If you love shows like Luther and Mindhunter, then you will really enjoy Cross.
The Boys
How do I even describe this show?
Insane, Dark, Violent and oh yeah, they are superheroes…
The Boys is set in a world with superheroes, but it’s more realistic and reflects what today’s society would actually look like if some people had superpowers. Exactly. DARK. The “supes” are corrupt, reckless, selfish and out of control.
It always keeps you guessing, as in you quite literally can’t predict the plot, or how far the writers are willing to go. Think of the worst thing ever, then times it by 100. The writers go even further than that.
There’s a lot of violence, it’s quite gory, but it’s also filled with satire. The acting performances are solid, and the storyline develops in each season. The show is coming to an end, so if you haven’t watched it yet, you won’t have to wait for any seasons to come out. You can happily binge it all.
If you like Invincible, then you will like The Boys!
The Walking Dead
Arguably the best zombie show in existence. Actually, no, it’s not arguable, this is facts. The Walking Dead is the best zombie show to exist.
The acting performances in this show are exceptional. The way the plot develops and moves throughout each season is amazing. You genuinely feel like you’re on a journey with them. We watch them grow while dealing with the literal zombie apocalypse. There are so many iconic characters and moments, and it really focuses on the people they become and the choices they have to make to survive.
If you like shows like The Last of Us, Snowpiercer or are looking for something a bit more serious in comparison to Fallout, then this show is for you!
Rings of Power
I didn’t think I would love this show as much as I did, but I was pleasantly surprised. To be honest, I’m a fantasy girl through and through, whether it be on the screen or in books, but because I hadn’t watched The Lord of the Rings, I was a bit sceptical.
The show is set in Middle-earth before the events of The Lord of the Rings, and you don’t need to watch the film series to watch this show. The world-building is brilliant, which is due to the utilisation of the source material (the books). There are multiple storylines that weave in and out of each other, which is always interesting to watch, and the visuals are absolutely stunning.
Although there is lots of action, the show runners have definitely prioritised world-building and developing tension to add a more atmospheric feel to the show. There is a clear journey we are meant to feel like we are embarking on, which by the time you get stuck in, feels completely worth it.
If you like Game of Thrones, The Witcher or The Wheel of Time (RIP sigh), you will love this show!
